1980's
Game title: Donkey Kong
Release date: 1981
Developer: Nintendo
Format: Arcade
Today format: Nintendo Wii
Donkey Kong was Nintendo's first global hit. Nintendo's best
known designer called Shigeru Miyamoto is the man who created the iconic Donkey
Kong. His inspiration that formed Donkey Kong was from the classic 1933 film
King Kong and fable Beauty and the beast. I chose to pick this game as my 1980's choice
because Donkey Kong is still so popular today but I appreciate how the
developer hasn't changed the design of the character much throughout the years. The game is
about a Gorilla that has escaped and kidnapped his own master's (Jumpman, known
today as Mario) girlfriend, she is
called Pauline but was best known as "The lady" she was the first
damsel in distress in video games. The
name Donkey Kong what created by the creator looking in a dictionary as he struggled
with speaking English. Donkey Kong was
the first ever video game that used the jump and run platform.
(How Donkey Kong has changed throughout the years, I believe that the design to Donkey Kong has kept strong through the years. Added tie and hair style but there is still a sense of the original design.)
